- Saffron Brewery, Flying Serpent (500ml)
Saffron Brewery is situated in the picturesque village of Henham on the Herts./Essex border, near Saffron Walden. It opened for business in May 2006 after the launch of its inaugural brew at the 33rd Cambridge beer festival. The Maris Otter barley malts used in the production of the beers are sourced from Warminster Malting and the traditional English hop varieties, including Challenger, Fuggles, Goldings and Boadicea, are provided by hop merchant, Charles Faram. The main stainless steel brewing vessels consist of Fermenters, a Copper, Hot liquor tank and Mash tun The brewery currently produces 4,500 pints on a single brew day with the capacity to brew 4 times a week.
Flying Serpent is a floral, aromatic bitter with nutty hints. A delightful copper-red in colour this works particularly well with spicy sausages or slow-roasted lamb shanks and red onions.
