The Stanton and Killeen winery is situated three kilometres due west of Rutherglen on the Murray Valley Highway amongst the gently undulating picturesque farming country of Victoria. Over 300 hectares are devoted to mixed farming enterprises while 30 hectares of the best well drained soils are planted to vines with an annual production of approximately 250 tonnes. This is an Australian classic made from Muscat a Petit Grans Rouge grapes left on the vine for as long as possible. It undergoes mutage followed by ageing in a series of old oak barrels similar to the traditional solera system. The result is a complex wine with layer after layer of flavour.
A stunning blood orange in colour. Heady aromas of almonds, caramel and citrus fruits. On the palate, unctuous and rich with flavours of honey and roasted nuts leading to a lengthy finish. Brilliant dessert wine poured over coffee or vanilla ice cream. Alternatively try with a stewed apple meringue or chocolate tart.
