Laurent Perrier was founded in 1812 by Alphonse Pierlot who, upon his death, left the estate to his cellar master Eugene Laurent who ran it with his wife Mathilde Perrier. In 1939 the company was sold to Mary-Louise Lanson de Nonancourt and the de Nonancourt family retain a controlling interest in the company to this day. Other brands within the Laurent Perrier company include Delamotte and Salon champagne. The Laurent Perrier Rose is made entirely from Pinot Noir grapes and packaged in the famous bottle inspired by King Henri IV.
An elegant salmon-pink in colour with scents of red cherries and raspberries. The palate is fresh and racy with further tart red fruit flavours. Look also for notes of cassis. The finish is round and balanced with crisp acidity. Great with delicately spiced food such as Thai king prawns with chilli and ginger. Otherwise try with crab sushi or tuna sashimi with avocado.
