- Domaine de la Plaigne, Regnie 2008
Domaine de la Plaigne has been owned and run by Gilles and Cécile Roux since 1991. The estate is based in the village of Regnie-Durette and comprises of 9 hectares of Régnié and 2 hectares of Beaujolais-Villages vines. The hand-harvested Gamay vines cultivated by the estate grow on sandy granitic soil and their average age is 40 years.
This particular Regnie comes from old vines and is a vibrant purple-red in colour with a spicy nose of cherries, raspberries, and baked fruits. On the palate, the Regnié has more depth than the Beaujolais-Villages and has a fuller body, with complexity and tannins that give it an ageing potential of a further 4-5 years. Ripe and round with balanced acidity this is a very food-friendly wine. Try with jambon persille, artichoke bottoms with foie gras or Coq au Vin.
