  • Domaine de la Plaigne, Regnie 2008
  • Domaine de la Plaigne has been owned and run by Gilles and Cécile Roux since 1991. The estate is based in the village of Regnie-Durette and comprises of 9 hectares of Régnié and 2 hectares of Beaujolais-Villages vines. The hand-harvested Gamay vines cultivated by the estate grow on sandy granitic soil and their average age is 40 years.

This particular Regnie comes from old vines and is a vibrant purple-red in colour with a spicy nose of cherries, raspberries, and baked fruits. On the palate, the Regnié has more depth than the Beaujolais-Villages and has a fuller body, with complexity and tannins that give it an ageing potential of a further 4-5 years. Ripe and round with balanced acidity this is a very food-friendly wine. Try with jambon persille, artichoke bottoms with foie gras or Coq au Vin.
