Situated in the village of Badens, a few miles from Carcassonne, the vineyards of Domaine Cros sit on the poorest of poor stony soil, so inhospitable that only the vine and olive tree can survive. As a result of this harsh growing climate Pierre Cros has laboured to preserve ancient parcels of traditional grapes able to cope with the arrid terroir, including Aramon, Piquepoul Blanc and Alicante. This particular Minervois rouge is a more conventional blend of Grenache, Carignan and Syrah and yields sweet red fruit and peppery flavours.

Cherry-red in colour. Ripe, fruity aromas of raspberries, cherries and sweet spice that lead to a smooth and velvety palate with further spicy flavours of black and red fruits. Elegant tannins make this a good food wine. Serve with Poulet Basque (chicken stew with tomatoes, peppers and onions), Bayonne ham or coq au vin.
