The 17-hectare Domaine des Vigneaux is situated in the village of Valvignere in the Ardeche region of the southern Rhone and is run by fourth generation vigneron Christophe Comte. The estate was founded in 1905 by Christophe's grandfather and attained fully organic status in 2001. The vines are planted on clay and limestone soils and benefit from the cooler microclimate associated with the Ardeche region. Like all Christophe's wines, this 100% Syrah is supple and elegant, making it an excellent food wine.

Purple-red in colour, the aromas are of cassis, ripe orange peel and dried fruits. In the mouth medium-bodied and rich with a pleasantly tart finish. Try with duck liver pate, good quality spicy pork sausages or french onion soup.
