  • Alain Brumont, Chateau Bouscasse 2007
  • Alain Brumont is widely regarded as one of the finest wine makers in the world at present. He is credited with single-handedly rescuing the appellation of Madiran from obscurity following the turmoil of World War Two. He owns several estates in the region all of which are run strictly along organic or biodynmaic lines. Chateau Bouscasse is one of his most important estates and this particular red is a spicy blend of Tannat, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon and spends 12 months in oak barrels. Drink now with rustic stews or keep for a further 10 years.

Inky-black in colour. Dense, spicy aromas of black fruits and spice. Very chewy and mouth filling on the palate with intense plummy flavours backed up with a fair whack of oak and acidity. Lingering finish. Excellent food wine. Serve with garlic roast chicken, roast duck with black olives or cassoulet.
