- Clos Triguedina, 'Prince Probus' 2001
Another excellent wine in our range from Clos Triguedina based at Puy-l'Eveque in the Cahors region of Southwest France. The 57 hectares are dominated by Malbec with some Tannat, Merlot and Chenin Blanc also grown. 'Prince Probus' is the flagship wine from this estate. 100% Malbec from 50 year old vines and aged in new oak, it takes it's name from the Emperor Probus who reputedly replanted the vineyards of the Quercy region in the 3rd century. Drink now but will keep for a further 5-7 years
Almost black in colour, aromas of coffee and dried fruits on the nose. Creamy and full in texture and packed with ripe black fruit flavours, there is a fair whack of tannin contributing to a long finish. Ready to drink now but will keep for several years. At its best with strongly flavoured foods such as wild boar casserole, duck liver pate or chilli can carne.
