  • Chateau d'Ollieres, Coteaux de Varois Rose 2010
  • The Chateau is situated in the village of Ollieres itself, some 30km east of Aix and is owned by the Rouy family. Wine making has taken place at the estate for over 200 years and there are 35 hectares of vines mostly planted on clay-limestone soil at an altitude of 1000 metres above sea level and the family is currently replanting 14 hectares of vines. 'Agriculture raisonee' methods are employed, organic manures are used and harvesting is carried out by hand. This dry, spicy rose is a blend of 50% Grenache, 40% Cinsault and 10% Syrah and makes for a great aperitif.

A delicate salmon pink in colour. On the nose, red summer berries with a touch of sweet spice. Dry, crisp and fresh on the palate with excellent acidity and further red berry notes. The finish is short yet refreshing making this a great food wine. Try with Charentais melon salad with tomato, cucumber and goat's cheese, chilled shellfish with aioli and parsley sauce or roasted sea bass with fennel.
