Description
Chateau Mourgues du Gres is situated in the Costieres de Nimes region of the Coteau du Languedoc. It is run by ex-journalist Francois Collard who farms 35 hectares of vines in all, producing arguably the best wines in the area. This particular white is from the easy drinking 'Galets' range and is a blend of Grenache Blanc and Roussanne. Aromatic and fresh, this would be good as an aperitif or served with seafood or a bitter goats cheese.
Tasting Notes
Pale straw-yellow in colour. The Grenache Blanc provides aromas and flavours of apples with a hint of aniseed. The notoriously temperamental Roussanne grape adds concentrated floral notes and an elegance to the palate. A fresh, floral wine with a crisp finish. Serve with panfried scallops with a lime and ginger reduction, snails in garlic or a salmon mousse.
