  • Plessis, Pineau des Charentes Blanc
  • Pineau des Charentes is a blend of unfermented grape must (usually from Ugni Blanc, Colombard and Folle Blanche grapes) and Cognac. It is made in the Charente region of soutwest France and is a fortified wine or mistelle. By law, Pineau has to age in oak barrels for at least 18 months and the resulting ABV should be between 16-22%, although in practice it is almost always 17%. This particular Pineau is sweet in character but balanced by an excellent acidity. Try as an aperitif with ice. Also great with most apple desserts.

An amber gold in colour. Aromas of figs and plums with a hint of spice. On the palate, rich and full, yet balanced by a mineral acidity. Look for flavours of honey and almonds. The finish is full and sweet. Great with apple clafoutis, beignets or Belgian waffles.
