  • Domaine Coffinet-Duvernay, Chassagne-Montrachet, 'Blanchots Dessous' 2008
  • The domaine has been in the hands of the Coffinet family since 1860. However, in 1989 Philippe Duvernay, along with his wife Laura Coffinet, took control of the estate and the joint venture was suitably re-named. Based in the village of Chassagne-Montrachet, the vines grow on deep clay-calcereous soils on south facing slopes just underneath 'Criots Batard-Montrachet'. The Chardonnay grapes that make up 'Blanchots-Dessous' are fermented in used oak barrels. The wine is then transferred to barriques for a further 16 months ageing before bottling. The resultant wine is complex and concentrated with seductive buttery notes.

A pale golden in colour. Scents of citrus and ripe peach. On the palate, opulent and rich with a lingering minerality. A perfect wine for fish. Try with trout stuffed with spinach and shallots, fillets of sole with shrimps and mussels or a dozen escargots a la Bourgogone with garlic and parsley butter.
