- Cantina Fazio, Brusio IGT Sicilia Bianco 2009
The Fazio Winery has 600 hectares of vineyards situated on the slopes of Mount Erice to the west of Palermo in Sicily, and the business is currently run by Mimo and Lilly Fazio, 5th generation winemakers at the estate. In addition to native varietals such as Inzolia and Nero d'Avola, the Fazios have also planted a large parcel of more mainstream grapes such as Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. This particular white is a blend of 60% Inzolia and 40% Chardonnay grown on the estate's vineyards near Erice at an altitude of 400m.
A light gold in colour with green flecks. A refined and elegant nose of tropical fruits, honeysuckle and acacia. On the palate, medium-bodied and well balanced with further exotic fruit notes. The finish is lasting and spicy. A great accompaniment to tuna in a classic stemperata sauce (celery, garlic, green olives, capers and raisins), grilled bream with a spicy couscous or aged Pecorino cheese.
