- Tamellini Soave 2010
Although the estate was only established in 1998, the Tamellini family have been making wine in the area for over 100 years. The current incumbents, Gaetano and Pio Francesco, with the assistance of accomplished wine maker Paolo Caciorgna, have earned the estate an outstanding reputation as one of only two-dozen, estate-bottled growers and producers of authentic Soave. Based at Costeggiolo near Verona in the Veneto, the estate's 15 hectares of vines grow on rich and mineral volcanic soil and this particular Soave Superiore is made from the Garganega grape with the addition of 10% Trebbiano di Soave for acidity. Aged in stainless steel tanks, this is a fragrant and honeyed white wine.
A straw yellow in colour with an aromatic and floral nose. Look for aromas of almonds and green fruits. On the palate flavours of tropical stone fruit and citrus with notes of aromatic herbs. This pairs well with the notoriously difficult-to-match asparagus. Alternatively try with pasta and green pesto, Sashimi dishes or a ripe Taleggio cheese.
