  • Clos Henri, Petit Clos Sauvignon Blanc 2009
  • Clos Henri is part of the Henri Bourgeois empire, the origins of which lie in the Sancerre region of the Loire Valley. Founded in 1952 by Henri Bourgeois with just 2 acres of vines, today the French estate comprises of 80 acres and is the biggest in the region, producing excellent Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume. In 2000 the Bourgeois family took the decision to purchase nearly 100 hectares of land in the Marlborough region of New Zealand's South Island. Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir grapes were planted and the first wines appeared in 2003 to instant acclaim. This particular Sauvignon Blanc is from young vines planted in high density on gravel soils from the old Waihopi River. An elegant Sauvignon, this makes for a great summer aperitif.

A very pale straw-yellow in colour with green flecks. Notes of lemon, grapefruit, gooseberry and sweet geranium on the nose. Generous and balanced in the mouth with grassy notes and a mineral backbone. Pleasantly tart, clean finish. Pair with a fresh snapper ceviche with lime and roasted sweet peppers, spicy shrimp ravioli served with a citrus vinaigrette or grilled marinated prawns with a fresh melon salsa.
