  • Vinum Chenin Blanc 2010
  • The Vinum vineyards are composed of selected sites in the Stellenbosch region, from prime parcels on the Helderberg Mountain and in Devon Valley. These sites offer excellent mineral soils, southerly exposure and healthy, mature vines, all of which combine with the cool maritime breezes to bestow on these vineyards the ideal environment for excellent grape development. This particular Chenin Blanc is from old bush vines located on the footslopes of the magnificent Helderberg Mountain, facing the ocean, in a South & South-Easterly orientation. These vines consistently produce some of the finest Chenin grapes in the Stellenbosch Region. Yields are low and the grapes are picked and sorted by hand. This lively and aromatic white makes for a great partner to mildly spicy foods.

A pale golden in the glass. Scents of citrus fruits and cinnamon. The palate suggests fresh lime and a dusting of sweet spices underscored by an intensity of persistent tropical fruit notes and a steely acidity. The finish is lingering with mineral notes. Altogether a complex yet balanced wine and a fine example of the underrated Chenin Blanc grape. Drink with deep-fried soft shell crab with a mint and chilli dressing, honey-roasted duck or a chunk of Camembert cheese.
