  • Bodegas Terras Gauda, Terras Gauda Black Label 2007
  • Rias Baixas is the only exclusively white wine appellation in Spain and is located in the northwest region of Galicia. Because of its cool, oceanic climate, the Albarino grape from which most of the region's whites are made, thrives to produce light and fresh wines. Founded in 1990 and situated in the O Rosal valley near the River Mino, Bodegas Terras Gauda is the leading maker in the region and is notable for owning 85% of its own vineyards, the remainder of the grapes are provided under strict quality control agreements with other local growers. Black Label is the flagship wine of the company and is the result of the wood fermentation of the O Rosal blend of Albarino, Loureira and Caino Blanco whereby the must is fermented in French and American oak barrels for 4 months.

A lively straw-yellow in colour. On the nose, intense aromas of tropical fruits and white flowers with hints of butter and a slight smokiness from the oak . On the palate, elegant and fresh with smooth tannins and toasty notes leading to a persistent finish packed with ripe peach flavours. Great with spicy foods. Try with Thai-style shrimps with garlic and ginger served in a spicy tomato sauce, chipirones en su tinta (fried squid in its own ink) or a tangy goat's cheese.
